Overtone Flute Head 100mm — DIY BY BRAS

The Overtone Flute Head 100mm is a sound-producing head designed for the DIY BY BRAS system.

Included: Detailed blueprints and instructions for assembly and experimentation, providing everything needed to explore oversized overtone-style instruments using standard 100mm PVC pipe.

Inspired by traditional overtone flutes but intentionally pushed far beyond their usual dimensions, this head has been specifically developed for 3D printing and large-scale instrument experimentation.

It can be seen as a giant extension of the Overtone Flute concept. While it does not correspond to any known traditional instrument, it explores what happens when the dimensions of an overtone flute are taken to an extreme scale. The result is a unique instrument with its own character, opening the door to a wide range of sounds, playing techniques, and acoustic experiments.

The digital version includes both versions of the Overtone Flute Head 100mm, with and without connector.

IMPORTANT:
The actual diameter of 100mm PVC pipes can vary slightly depending on manufacturer and production batch. To ensure compatibility with the widest range of pipes, DIY BY BRAS parts are designed slightly oversized. While our finished instruments are individually adjusted to match our current pipe stock, DIY parts must remain adaptable to many different pipe sources. For optimal performance, an airtight seal is required. Simply wrap transparent adhesive tape around the pipe to create a custom-fit seal before inserting it into the printed part.
